Erie PA News and Events for Sunday May 14, 2006
There are two stories by Kevin Flowers and Ed Palattella, Woman claims housing fraud drove her to financial ruin and FBI probes housing deals, in todays Erie newspaper about the FBI investigating housing and mortgage fraud in Erie. As a real estate agent in Erie, I wanted to stand up and applaud the news. If you’re thinking about buying a ‘For Sale By Owner’ property and they are pushing you toward a mortgage company, think twice. Many of these folks can’t be trusted. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. If you have any questions on realestate in Erie, give me a call at (814) 833-2741. I’ll be happy to give you free info on properties. I hate to see people cheated.
Many of the problems in the stories is why the Erie Redevelopment Authority chose the company I work with, Prudential Advantage Realty, to sell their properties. The Redevelopment Authority no longer deals with some of the businesses mentioned in the stories.

The Erie SeaWolves won their second consecutive one-run ballgame over the Reading Phillies on Saturday night by a final score of 6-5. Kurt Airoso and Kody Kirkland hit home runs for the SeaWolves.

Former Gannon assistant John Sanow has been named head basetball coach at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Sanow spent last year as an asistant at Vermont.
The Outlaw Cadet’s will head the bill today at Eriez Speedway as new owner Bobby Rohrer runs his second event of the season and Budweiser will be the sponsor. Give-a-ways are planned to celebrate Mother’s Day.
The Orchid Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania annual show will be held today at the JMC Ice Arena, 423 West 38th Street, Erie PA, from 10-5. Admission is only $2 with Zoo Members and children under 12 admitted free.
Audtition call for actors. The United We Stand Theater Troupe wants you. If you can sing or act, check out the auditions, Monday, May 15 and Tuesday, May 16, 7-9 pm, at the Avalon Hotel for their musical Dreamgirls! The 12 performance show, which will be held at the Metroplex, opens Friday, July 28 and runs till Sunday, August 20. Showtimes are 7 pm, and 3 pm for the Sunday matinees.

As a PA state certified residential appraiser in Erie, I am appalled about this story. I would love you to post the name of the appraiser who was involved in this fraud so that the state can be notified. Does A & M Homes, Inc. have a web site? I would love to post some comments there too.
"Finney said Woodsbey knew what she was getting into.”
"I feel bad about her situation," he said in a recent interview. "She is a big girl. She made her own decisions. No one twisted her arm to buy her house."
What a load of horse sh*t. Most people have no idea what they are getting into when buying a home. These are exactly the type of people that Finney knows and does prey on. I cannot wait until this ass is convicted. Along with the appraiser who was involved too.
