Dr Paul Heberle was acquited of Medicaid fraud and charges that he over supplied pain medication to patients.
Miles Rish plead quilty to reduced charges that he sexually assaulted a female Gannon student. Rish was a Gannon freshamn at the time.
Funny real estate story. I was checking out some properties for a client that Erie Redevelopment Authority is selling. They included houses and lots in the city. I saw one lot that was supposed to be empty full of used cars. There is a used car dealership located next to it. The dealership said they have been paying rent on the property for years. The person receiving the rent payment is currently in prison. The Erie Redevelopment Authority is giving the dealership 72 hours to get their cars off the property.
Nate Bumstead tossed a complete game for the Erie SeaWolves to extend their winning streak to seven-straight ballgames as Erie beat Harrisburg 6-2. They look to make it eight-straight on Tuesday at Harrisburg.
University of Akron women’s basketball coach Jodi Kest announced the hiring of Bob Boldon as her assistant. Boldon coached with Kest at Gannon University in the 2001-2 season and for two seasons at Texas A and M-Corpus Christi.
Zack Manuel of Notre Dame High School in Elmira NY has signed a letter of intent to attend Division II Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa. and play lacrosse for the Lakers.
Thomas Keenan of Erie shot a 71 and is in a tie for second place at the Turning Stone New York State PGA Championship being held near Binghampton NY.
Erie native Andrew Pratt has accepted an invitation to play the FedEx St Jude Classic in Memphis this week. Pratt finished tied for fourth last week in the Henrico County Open, a Nationwide Tour event at Glen Allen, Va. He earned $16,312.
Mercyhurst College head coach Cecil Pilson announced his captains for the 2007 season. Defender Darci Doran will serve as the Lakers’ 2006-07 captain, while midfielder Lauren Smith and attacker Courtney Olevnik will serve as assistant captains.
The Gannon University Small Business Development Center is holding a entrepreneur seminar for veterans today at 9 am at the Ambassador Banquet and Conference Center, 7794 Peach St. This seminar is facilitated by Donn Nemchick, a US Navy Veteran. The seminar is designed for veterans and spouces of veterans looking to start their own business. The cost of the seminar is $15. The 16th Annual Baumann Memorial Fastpitch Tournament will be held May 26-28 at the and Hess Fields in Erie at 12th and Hess Streets. Nine worldclass fastpitch teams from across the United States and Canada will compete, starting Friday night at 6:30, all day Saturday, with semi finals on Sunday at 9:30 am, with the finals at 11:30 am. All proceeds from the tournament benefits the Ahlzeimers Association Memory Walk, led by Jim Camp. There will be a huge silent auction on Saturday from 11-5, and plenty of concessions.

There will be a Bike Night on Friday May 26 along State Street beginning at 5 pm which is sponsored by the Erie Downtown Improvement District.

The Walk for a Healthy Community takes place on Saturday, June 3, at the Liberty Park Pepsi Amphitheater on the Erie bayfront. The walk is underwritten by Highmark so that all money raised can be directed to the 15 Erie area participating health and human service organizations.
The Band Camp for Adult Musicians will enjoy its fifth season at Allegheny College this June. Founded in 1989 by John Fleming, the camp has grown from 17 campers for one week to close to 140 campers split over two weeks for the 2006 season. Week I will be held June 11-16, with Week II running June 25-30. Spots remain for musicians interested in participating in the two weeks of the Adult Band Camp. Any players of woodwind, brass or percussion instruments who are college age or beyond and are interested in attending should call Conference and Event Services at Allegheny College: 814-332-3101.

I was reading your blog, and liked the story about the used car lot. I then went to www.redeveloperie.org and noticed they still have Filippi listed as Mayor.
