Erie PA News and Events for Thursday June 8, 2006
The Invest Erie Community Development Corporation was founded for one mission. To build a grocery store at 19th and Parade Streets. So far they have failed and wasted over $400,000 in your tax dollars doing so. They also have a stack of unpaid bills. In a more perfect world, this would be illegal and those responsible would be charged with criminal offenses and sent to rot in prison. The incompetent morons in charge of Invest Erie, current head Matt Pisano and past head Matt Selker, spent money on an engineering report, architectural plans and salaries. But they didn’t so the one thing they should have done first. Buy the land. This amounts to planning a wedding before you find a bride. Every cent they have spent so far has been wasted.
Invest Erie has until June 30 to buy the preport but becasue they have wasted so much money they don’t have the funds to buy it. Erie attorney and developer will take over on July 1 and willl wrap it up with a bow soon after. Riesbeck’s Foods has repeadly said that they will locate a Mor For Less Food Store at the site. All they need is the building to lease.

The joint ranking comes from Worldwide ERC (Employee Relocation Council), the association for global employee relocation, and Primacy Relocation. Also ranked ahead of Erie on the list were Lexington, Ky; Fayetteville, Ark; Boulder-Longmont, Col; Burlington, Vt; Lafayette, La. Former Erie public safety director Erby Conley was told Tuesday that
he is no longer in the running for the Easton police commissioner job. Then on Wednesday, Easton appointed Larry Palmer as police chief returning Palmer to the position he left 2 years ago. In a story by Edward Sieger in the Express-Times, Easton Mayor Phil Mitman is quoted on the results of background checks on two finalists “The facts are that I wasn’t at all pleased with the final checking of the two applicants.” How does someone who spent more than 2 decades with the Pennsylvania State Police including time as Troop Commander in Erie and then Public Safety Director for the CIty of Erie have trouble with a background check?
