Bradley Horton of Silver Creek, NY was shot and killed by a New York State Police officer after a traffic stop. Sounds like the pilice were going to cite Horton for not wearing a helmet while riding an ATV and maybe arrest him for driving under the infulence. Horton took off on the ATV dragging the police officer a mile down the road. Other officers found that police officer lying on the road and injured along with Horton dead in a field.
Mercyhurst College created a handout for incoming freshman on cybersafety and cybercivility on social networks such as Facebook, MySpace and Xanga. An article in the Roanoke Times pointed out that other schools such as Virginia Tech is giving the Mercyhurst handout to their freshman. I don’t think people realize when they publish something on those sites it’s out there for anybody to read. Nuts will see it. College admissions officers go though the sites. And the company that you applied to for a job or even your current employer could see it.
“Naked Science,” a weekly series on the National Geographic Channel, will feature James Adovasio of Mercyhurst College and his work on Meadowcroft Rockshelter. The show scheduled to air in October. It was thought that man arrived in North American around 12,000 years ago during the Ice Age. Evidence of man at Meadowcroft dates back 16,000 years.
Rain has washed out game two between the Erie SeaWolves and Bowie Baysox on Sunday evening. The two teams are scheduled to make up Sunday’s game in a double header Monday night starting at 5:35 PM. Both original starters, James Johnson and Nate Bumstead, will take the mound Monday evening. Garrett Olson will throw game two for Bowie. Erie has yet to make an announcement as to who will pitch for the SeaWolves in the second game. The double header will consist of two scheduled 7-inning games.

Learn about the Carrie T Watson Garden Club Labyrinth at the Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier (LEAF). If you haven’t experienced the labyrinth yet, this week will offer some great opportunities to walk the path.
Grandparents Day : June 27, 10 am, Bring the grandchildren and make plaster finger labyrinths for use at home. Labyrinth games and activities.
Butterflies and Bubbles! : June 29, 1 - 3 pm, Children 3 to 7 years of age are invited to wear their wings and fly like butterflies on the labyrinth path. Giant bubbles will double the fun. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Labyrinth Evening Walk : June 30, 9 pm, The Labyrinth at LEAF will be illuminated by candles and the moon. Bring a friend and share a meaningful experience as you walk the curving path together.
The Labyrinth as Architecture in Erie : July 1, 11 am, Presentation by Michael DeSanctis of Gannon University.
The Community of Caring, Directed by Mother Mary Beth Kennedy, is having an International Festival/ Art Auction featuring muli-ethnic entertainment and refreshments at the Cauley Auditorium, 215 East 4th Street, this Thursday, June 29th from 5-8pm (admission is $10). There will also be a Chinese Auction with items from local businesses…everything from dinner and a movie for two, to family entertainment packs to golfing at Peek’n Peak and so much more. The proceeds will benefit Community of Caring’s orphanages and feeding centers throughout the world. The Honorary Chairperson is Former Mayor Joyce Savocchio - and there will be special guest auctioneers - County Executive Mark Divecchio, Rubye Jenkins-Husband, Jeff Pinski and Sue Weber.
The 2006 Erie Airshow will be on Saturday and Sunday, July 15-16, 2006. The Air Show will be held at Erie International Airport, Tom Ridge Field. The schedule of performances and static display aircraft present will be the same each day, so you can attend either day and see the same great show. Gates will open each day at 10 am with the flying portion of the airshow will begin at noon each day.
