The times on your blog roll aren't correct when you hold the cursor over the entries. Your post also isn't correct. It wasn't up until after 11 AM and it says it was posted at 7:36AM NOT. Anyway, I find feedburner to be so slow in rolling. It is sometimes 45 minutes to an hour before the entries "roll". Bloglines notifer is within minutes of the posted entry before it shows up in the notifiers. Just wondering if you should change feeds. I don't know if Bloglines would work for your application but feedburner entries become "old news" by the time it rolls for breaking stories.

And the Celebrate Erie website STILL hasn't been updated.

I agree the times on the sidebar aren't correct. That's due to the various blog platforms that people use and their time zone settings.
Feedburner itself is very timely at grabbing new feeds. ErieBlogs only polls all the various blog feeds hourly to check for new posts, so that list of What's New on the Erie Blogs isn't up the second.

I will try this again. The blog roll shows the time in GMT which is Greenwhich Mean Time. It is also UTC or Z (Zulu) this is not Military time. For us here in EDT time zone in the summer we are 4 hours behind GMT. So instead of subtracting 12 from the 15:36 (Which I could see how it would be mistaken for military time) which would be 7:36 you would subtract 4 and that leaves you with 11:36
I know this because in the world of weather, meteorologist get their information in GMT or Z(zulu) time. So I have to know this...

The Clarks...hence why I'll be home ;)

I spoke with Father Shawn Clerkin yesterday about Gannon's Shakespeare Summer Nights. The schedule for the performances has changed slightly. They will not be doing "Taming of the Shrew." They will be doing "Words Words Words" instead. Some dates and times have changed also. "Words Words Words" will be performed July 22-23 at 6:30 pm and again July 28-29 at 6:30 pm.

Another thing regarding times posted for each blog entry here on Erieblogs.com, we use MovableType and the time is set to when the entry is first created. Dennis may not post for another hour...two...or even three hours later. Although actually posted at that later time, it has a creation date of an earlier time. The only solution is to manually adjust the time before each post--but why bother. It's inconsequential as well as when entries on the blog role were posted (IMHO).

Unless, of course, there is road closings that someone may post due to accident etc that the times may mean a lot if you are heading in that direction or if some event is canceled and a blogger posts that news immediately, then the time it was posted is important as well as it posting immediately. The main benefit to a blog is having things posted "real time". I'm just saying in the event of a catastrophe, picture blogs posted immediately would be (and has been in other blog sites) of great importance and interest. Maybe blog rolls can't be made real time, just individual blogs site. Nit picking?, yes, but remember the advantage of blogging news items is being able to post it "live" as it happens. I realize most blogs here are just day-to-day type diaries, where the times posted are meaningless. But at some point, some of us will be there when something that really matters happens (with text and picture modems in cameras and cell phones), it would be nice to be cutting edge instead of old news. I just don't know if that is possible yet on a blog roll. I looked more closely at Bloglines and they state in their facts that they only check once an hour. No advantage there.
Posted by: Linda at July 21, 2006 10:51 AM
Blogs are just not conducive to relaying that kind of information (last minute relay of info). For that kind of service, text messaging to a cellular phone or instant messaging would be better. I would be PISSED OFF if Bloglines or another aggregator pulled our feed more than once an hour because that would be a waste of our bandwidth. We do 'ping' major aggregators and I'm sure other bloggers do as well so the information posted here and on other blogs should be 'fresh,' that is, within the hour.
