Joshua Dibello was found dead in his car in the parking lot of Herman’s, 28th and Old French. He died from a gunshot to the head. No word on any suspects but with his brother John being a city police officer, it shouldn’t be too long.


I had someone from the Erie Central High Class of 1993 ask who was in charge of reunions. Little help please.
Railpower Technologies (TSX: P) announced that Norfolk Southern Railway will purchase two Railpower RP-series multi-engine, low-emission, fuel-efficient, road switcher locomotives for delivery as kits in 2006. The purchase order includes an option for Norfolk Southern to purchase additional units between 2007 and 2009. Railpower is headquartered in Montreal, Quebec. Its US office (with 3 job openings) is located in Erie, Pennsylvania.
The Edinboro Volunteer Fire Department received a grant of $4,500 and the McKean Hose Company received $1,750 to purchase wildfire-suppression equipment and protective clothing. This will be useful if members of the fire companies vacation in California.
Diane Goodman, owner of the catering company Diane Cooks, has just had her second book published. It’s called ‘The Plated Heart.’ Goodman moved to Miami Beach eight years ago from Pennsylvania, where she taught English at Allegheny College for ten years.
Detective Rich Libicer of the New Mexico state police was on the Discovery Channel’s “Most Evil” last night. Libicer is a graduate of Edinboro University.
On Saturday in the Tullio Arena from 11 am until 4 pm the Erie SeaWolves and the American Red Cross along with the Erie County Convention Center Authority, present a blood drive in the lobby of the Tullio Arena. All donors will receive a free t-shirt and cap from the SeaWolves.
Allegheny College said it completed its capital campaign and surpassed its $105 million goal by $10 million.
The Erie SeaWolves lost to New Britain 4-0. It’s Country Night tonight with “Easy Street” performing beginning at 5 pm. Minnesota Twins right-handed reliever Matt Guerrier will be joining the New Britain Rock Cats Friday in Erie for a rehab assignment. Erie shortstop Tony Giarratano will have season-ending surgery Monday for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
There is racing tonight at Lake Erie Speedway with the Plyler Overhead Door Late Models, Dodge Trucks (35 lap feature), Advance Auto Parts Super Stocks, Pepsi Legends, Jensen’s Target Collision Figure 8’s and KRazy Kompacts. Gates open at 5:30 pm with races beginning at 7:30 pm.
Norwich University has hired Ramsey Pualwan as the head coach of its men’s and women’s cross country teams. He is a 1981 graduate of Allegheny College and has a master’s in physical education from Springfield College.
Michael Dittman will be at the Erie Book Store,137 E 13th Stree in Erie, on Friday July 21st at 6:30 pm signing copies of his latest novel Small Brutal Incidents, a noir thriller set in 1950’s Pittsburgh.
Waterford Heritage Days takes place July 21, 22 and 23 In Waterford PA.
The 3rd annual Key West Fest will be held July 21-22 at Liberty Park. The great Jimmy Buffet tribute band Key West Express and Peter Mayer Group will perform.

Gannon University will co-host a summer camp for youth who enjoy nature and outdoor activities.The Junior Naturalist Outdoor Adventure Camp (JNOAC) also will be hosted by Presque Isle State Park and Family First Sports Park. The adventure camp is designed for children ages 8-12 and will run Monday-Friday, July 24-28. The camp will be held at Presque Isle State Park and will allow participants to explore the outdoors, learn team building skills, and challenge themselves by engaging in fun adventures and activities. The camp is presented by the Gannon University Continuing Education and Computer Training Center. Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and is encouraged by Friday, July 14. The summer sky will be the topic of the next Summer Open House Night in Astronomy at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. Roger Knacke, professor of physics and astronomy and director of the college’s School of Science, will present “Summer Stars and the Milky Way” at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, in 101 Otto Behrend Science Building. This Summer Open House Night in Astronomy is free and open to the public. It is a non-technical presentation for ages 6 and older. For more information, call the School of Science at 814-898-6105.

Scooters is hosting the 1st annual Motorcycles 4 Meals poker run to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of NW PA on August 12, 2006. Who's in charge of Central High class reunions? That would be the student president elected their senior year. I'm not sure but it might be in their year book. They can also call Central's office and ask them.
