Erie PA News and Events for Sunday July 23, 2006

When I saw a 1954 Studebaker, I knew something was up. Especially the way it was painted. And I quickly found out it’s one of the cars taking part in the Bullrun, the famous road rally and 3000 mile party. The car driven by Kevin Ward and Bret Haller has 650 HP with a top speed of over 200 mph. Well, that was before they lost a cylinder and spent the night in Erie. And yes, the guys have a blog. The Bullrun started out in New York City and ends in LA. Paris Hilton, Mario Andretti, Dennis Rodman and Hayden Christensen are a few of the celebs taking part in the rally.

The Erie SeaWolves game with New Britain was postponed because of rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Aug 16. I blame the rain on Philadelphia Gov Ed Rendel who tried to take in the game. Today, the SeaWolves take on the New Britain Rock Cats at 1:05 pm on Harborcreek Community Day. The first 1,000 fans to enter the ballpark will receive a Rally Towel courtesy of State Farm Insurance. Verizon Superpages is sponsoring a 175 ft Sundae prior to the game.

Pepsi will sponsor Autograph Night tonight at Eriez Speedway. Fans and drivers will meet on the speedway during Sunday’s show for a meet and greet. A long with regular racing in all the divisions the Super Challengers having a Championship Race. Gates will open at 4:30 pm with racing starting promptly at 6 pm.
