The search for Fran Medwick of Washington Township has been called off. Medwick apparently fell off his boat and drowned while fishing in Lake Erie in the area between Elk Creek and Trout Run.
Avoid West 12th Street for the next two days. Demolition work on the former Gunite plant at 12th and Cherry is taking place and the six lane road will be cut down to 1 or 2 lanes.


“Romeo and Juliet” will be performed tonight at 7 pm at the Patricia McCain Amphitheater at the Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park by the Gannon University Schuster Theatre Mainstage Company. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
The Yardbirds will perform at the Liberty Park Pepsi Amphitheater on July 25 for 8 Great Tuesdays. Admission is free for the Eight Great Tuesdays Port Erie concert series.
Tennessee Back Porch will perform from 6:30 pm to sunset on Wednesday July 26, 2006 for this weeks < a href="http://www.discoverpi.com/content/blogcategory/50/91/">Sprint Sunset Concert Series at Presque Isle State Park Beach 1.
The summer sky will be the topic of the next Summer Open House Night in Astronomy at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. Roger Knacke, professor of physics and astronomy and director of the college’s School of Science, will present “Summer Stars and the Milky Way” at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, in 101 Otto Behrend Science Building. This Summer Open House Night in Astronomy is free and open to the public. It is a non-technical presentation for ages 6 and older. For more information, call the School of Science at 814-898-6105.
Peccadillo’s will host this weeks Thursday night Erie Downtown block party on July 27. Tenth Street between State and French will be closed for the event. Nerds Inc will perform. There is no charge to attend. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Sam Hyman and Otis James will perform a free concert at 7 pm in the Patricia McCain Amphitheater at the Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park on Thursday July 27.
Gannon University’s Schuster Theatre presents the 3rd Annual Shakespeare Summer Nights. “The Merry Wives of Windsor” will be performed on July 28 at 7 pm, “Romeo and Juliet” will be performed July 29 and 30 at 7 pm, and “Words, Words, Words” by David Ives, based on Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” will be performed July 28 and 29 at 6:30 pm preceding the mainstage productions. All performances are FREE and open to the public. Performances are outdoor in A.J.’s Way on the campus of Gannon University (between West 7th and West 8th and Peach and Sassafras Streets, just south of the Gannon arch over West 7th Street).

Here’s some info on a great new Erie area event. The Guelcher Film Series at the Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park, aka Movies in the Park - The Biggest Stars Under The Stars. Movies will begin at 9 pm. Here is a tentative list of films.

Scooters is hosting the 1st annual Motorcycles 4 Meals poker run to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of NW PA on August 12, 2006. Registration starts at 9 am at the Food Bank, 1703 Ash Street with the first bike leaving at Noon. There will be FREE food, FREE music, Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle at Scooters (last stop).
