Erie PA News and Events for Wednesday September 6, 2006
Erie County Council, the elected group who spend money less responsibly than a crack whore with a welfare check, approved four new positions for the new $14 million 911 dispatch center and public safety suburban campus. The center and operations are paid out of your pocket with a monthly $1.25 tax added on to your cell phone. It was $.99. Just imagine what it will cost you in a few years. 911 operations, glorified incoming telemarketing call centers, were scattered around the county and were funded with through paying property taxes. Also formerly funded by property taxes were services such as garbage collection, water and sewer. Runaway spending and continual rising taxes and fees are killing business growth and are keeping new businesses from locating to this area.
