Erie PA News and Events for Sunday September 24, 2006
Well no wonder the Erie newspaper didn’t run a story about the the Erie-Western Pennsylvania Port Authority ferry from Erie to Port Dover, Ontario. See yesterdays post where I pointed out that the story didn’t run locally. The only bit of new info was that Willard Marine would be building the boat. The authority received a a $700,000 grant that they had until October to use or lose. They are buying a 65 foot boat will be able to carry 46 passengers. A few crossing will happen in late 2007 with twice daily service in 2008. The Erie-Western Pennsylvania Port Authority eventually plans to purchase a 190 foot fast ferry, which will carry up to 46 cars and up to 248 passengers. A seperate cargo/ freight ferry is also in the planning stages which would travel between Erie and Nanticoke, Ontario, Canada.
