Delta announced they are dropping the Erie to Cincinnati route as of November 1. That sucks. Delta has a large number of connecting flights. A pilot told me this joke - What’s Delta stand for? Don’t Ever Leave The Airport.

Nice story in the Erie newspaper about the BrewErie at Union Station not receiving their liquor license. GM and partner Chris Sirianni said they’re been working on it since May but only sent in the paperwork to the state on September 15. Soooo, he’s complaining about the state not immediately issuing the license? He should have made doing the paperwork more of a priority 5 months ago.

Tom Ridge of Erie, the former Secretary of Homeland Security, spoke the other day at the Material Handling and Logistics Conference and said RFID technology will play a big role in protecting the country. Erie PA is THE hot spot for the industry with The Radio Frequency Identification Center of Excellence At Penn State Behrend, the magazine RFID Solutions published by Erie based VertMarkets (Corry Publishing), and a number of local companies involved in the emerging industry.

The Erie Art Museum recently was awarded a $10,000 grant from the Coby Foundation, Ltd, to research and plan a major exhibition and catalogue devoted to the two main forms of contemporary commercial East African textiles. “Kanga and Kitenge” will debut at the Erie Art Museum in 2008 and will then tour across the nation,” remarked John Vanco, executive director of the Erie Art Museum. The goal of the exhibit, according to Vanco, is to create an exhibit and publish a significant catalog devoted to contemporary East African commercial textiles.

Fifty tenth and eleventh-grade girls from Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy will participate in a pilot Women in Engineering program at Penn State Behrend on Thursday.

Mercyhurst College students will vote next spring to enact a $15 annual “Green Energy Fee.” That money would go toward establishing a Renewable Energy and Conservation Fund to help support the college’s already demonstrated commitment toward sustainable energy initiatives on campus.

Concerning the post on September 27th regarding The Brewerie at Union Station. The paperwork for the license was submitted on May 22. We went months at a time with no progress from Harrisburg and did all that was asked of us along the way. On September 15th the PLCB asked for a PHOTO OF THE BUILDING AND A SIGNATURE and we gladly gave it to them! Please don't believe everything you hear. Our license was the number one priortiy from the begining and we're just happy that things finally fell into place!
