Erie PA News and Events for Thursday October 5, 2006
Erie Traffic Court manager Deborah Steff was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months for stealing more than $272,000. She was also ordered to pay full restitution for the money she embezzled. If you paid a traffic fine or a parking ticket in cash between 2002 and 2005, there is a very good possibility it went straight into her pocket. If you robbed a bank or held up a store, you’d spend decades in prison. Work for the government and only steal from the taxpayers, and you get a slap on the wrist.

Yesterday a story ran in a number of papers that NY Trooper Donald H Baker Jr walked down the halls of Hamot Medical Center with his wife. Baker was shot by Ralph “Bucky” Phillips during a stake out on Phillips’ former girlfriend’s home in Chautauqua County NY. Phillips surrendered to police on Sept 8.
