Erie PA News and Events for Friday October 6, 2006
I had to laugh yesterday at the news (newspaper story, WJET-TV story) that Erie Convention Center Authority is counter suing Nick Scott over the old convention center plans. Scott owns the big, empty plot on the NE corner of State Street and the Bayfront Parkway. The was where the contention center and hotel were originally planned to be built. Negotiations didn’t go well and instead of hammering out a deal, the Convention Center Authority walked away and decided to build on the Sassafras Street Pier. Scott sued and the case was recently thrown out of court. The Erie Convention Center Authority just got reimbursed from their insurance company for that mess and now they filed their own lawsuit against Scott. The only ones that have benefited from this pissing contest are the lawyers and a handful of Hamot workers that park on the empty lot where the convention center and hotel should have been built. I’m just waiting for the Port Authority to try to take the Scott owned land by eminent domain.
Interesting post by Nick yesterday who pointed out that the small beer cups and large beer cups at the Tullio Arena hold the same amount of liquid. I’ll have to research this matter at the next Otters game.
