Erie PA News and Events for Friday October 13, 2006
The Erie Times-News repoted today that Dr Chuck Rosenthal and his brothers, Peter and James, have filed a lawsuit against former Mercyhurst College President William Garvey and Mercyhurst board of trustees chairwoman Marlene Mosco. Chuck Rosenthal was the first to publically accuse Gavey of sexually assualting him. A number of others, think the number is up to 9, have followed. The statute of limitations has long since passed to prosecute Garvey but this suit is a civil matter.
In the Summer of 2004, Chuck Rosenthal had a book published called “Never Let Me Go” which detailed the sexual abuse by a pedophile basetball coach. In an excellent piece of journalism, the Erie newspaper put 2 and 2 together and asked Rosenthal is it was Garvey. He said yes. The Erie newspaper first reported the allegations on Oct 10, 2004. A member of the Mercyhurst board of trustees went so far as to remove all copies of the Erie newspaper from the campus when the story was printed.

National Fuel Gas has given up on their attempt to add a surcharge to gas bills. The surcharge would have been added to bills if customers didn’t meet a minimum use of gas, something like a 3 drink minimum at a bar. Instead NFG will just raise the Delivery Service Charge rate 4 percent. We still lose. This change will increase the average bill of a typical Pennsylvania residential customer using 83 hundred cubic feet of gas per month by $5.39, from $120.08 per month to $125.47 per month, beginning January 1, 2007.

The McKeesport three-day festival known as International Village will not allow Penn State to have a vendor at the festival next year.
