Erie PA News and Events for Wednesday October 18, 2006

The Eloise Woodsbey lawsuit again A and M Homes, Regal Financial and other reached court yesterday. It’s being handled in US Bankruptcy Court since it’s part of her bankruptcy filings. Judge Warren W Bentz urged both sides to reach a settlement which is what apparea will happen. Woodsbey will most likely keep her home and put a nice chunk of change in her pocket.
A and M Homes, owned by contractor Greg Finney, brought a number of low priced homes that were in need of repair. A and M Homes bought the property for $20,200. He did a bit of repair and cosmetic fixes. Woodsbey bought it for $49,900 when it was really worth maybe $30,000. Regal Financial financed the loan and said the home was worth over $50,000. Just after closing Regal sold the mortgage to another company. There was no independent party looking out for Woodsbey. No real estate agent was involved in the transaction because no Realtor would have let it go through. If the seller, mortgage company and appraiser are all in bed together, you can get scammed and that’s what happened here.
