Tammy Graves was identified as the woman who died at the John E Horan Garden Apartments. The coroner conducted an autopsy. Results will not be available for some time but it appears to be natural causes. They are still trying to figure out the timeline but it appears her 2 year old son was in the locked apartment with his Mother passed away for about a week. He was somewhat dehydrated but after a brief hospital visit, the child was turned over to relatives.
A family from Massachusetts lost a 11 year old girl when their SUV rolled over last last night on I-90 near Behrend trying to avoid a deer.
U S Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign announced that Governor Tom Ridge of Erie will travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan on Tuesday, June 26th.

Bret T Barnhizer, Chairman, CEO and President of NanoLogix said the company will soon be issuing a status update on their ongoing Welch’s hydrogen bioreactor operation and the R and D related to their Erie Wastewater Treatment plant project.
Students enrolled in two engineering programs at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, recently presented and earned top awards at two international conferences, upholding the college’s reputation for academic excellence in the field. Nineteen students enrolled in the plastics engineering technology (PLET) program at Penn State Behrend presented 14 research projects at ANTEC 2007, the Society of Plastics Engineers’ Annual Technical Conference held in Cincinnati, Ohio. The students nearly swept the undergraduate student research awards - earning five of the six divisional awards and five of five runner up/honorable mention awards. Additionally Christopher Suprock, who graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering this spring, earned first place for his research presentation at NAMRC 35, the North American Manufacturing Research Conference, held in Ann Arbor, Mich.
National Geographic Society Mission Programs is sponsoring Photo Camps this year in Oaxaca, Mexico; San Francisco; New York; Houston; Portland, Maine; New Orleans; Erie, PA; and Baltimore, in partnership with VisionWorkshops of Annapolis, Md.

The US Coast Guard is establishing a temporary safety zone on Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie near Erie, Pennsylvania. This zone is intended to restrict vessels from a portion of Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie during the bayfront fireworks display on July 4, 2007. This temporary safety zone is necessary to protect spectators and vessels from the hazards associated with fireworks displays.
Jeff Larish’s two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth gave the Erie SeaWolves a 5-4 win over the Trenton Thunder on Monday night. The SeaWolves go on a short 4 game roadtrip and will be back in Erie on Saturday evening to face Akron at 7:05 pm.
The Oasis Pub (the former Presque Isle Nites), 3122 West Lake Road in Erie, will have their Grand Opening today, Tuesday June 26 at 4 pm.

Darren Williams, an associate professor of physics and astronomy at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, will host a Summer Open House Night in Astronomy event at the college on Wednesday, June 27. Williams’ lecture, “What is a Planet? Why Not Pluto?” will begin at 8:30 pm in 101 Otto Behrend Science Building, and will be followed by astronomical viewing from the college’s Mehalso Observatory, weather permitting. Williams’ lecture and telescope viewing are intended for a non-technical audience, and are open to the public free of charge. The Week 2 Concert Band of the Band Camp for Adult Musicians at Allegheny College will perform a free gala concert on Friday, June 29 at 7:30 pm in the college’s Shafer Auditorium. Conducting the concert band will be Col Timothy Foley, USMC (ret). Foley, a native of Berwick, Pa, retired in 2004 as the leader of the United States Marine Band—known as “the President’s Own”—in Washington, DC. He spent over 30 years in the Marine Band as a clarinetist and as assistant leader before becoming the band’s leader in 1998. Meadville resident and mezzo-soprano Aimée Reash will perform as soloist. She will sing the “Habanera” from Georges Bizet’s “Carmen.” Reash, a graduate of Allegheny, teaches voice at the college and is a member of the staff at Pelletier Library.
As part of the Erie Summer-Long Jazz Festival, the Gem City Jazz Ensemble will present a free jazz concert for the entire family on June 30th from 6:30 to 8:15 at the Blasco Library’s H O Hirt Auditorium. Parents are encouraged to bring the kids to the show to learn about and experience jazz firsthand! The first half hour of the program will feature familiar children’s songs with a jazz flare, including the Hokey Pokey, Theme From Sesame Street, and Mickey Mouse. After a brief intermission, a one-hour jazz concert will be performed for the entire family, featuring such charts as Sidewinder, When You’re Smiling, New York New York, and Corner Pocket. This event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Blasco Library.
Mercyhurst North East will host its 15th annual Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration on Wednesday, July 4, starting at 6:30 p.m. The celebration will feature food and fun activities for the whole family throughout the evening, and will conclude with a fireworks display at 10 pm.
The 19th annual Panegyri Greek Festival will be held July 6- 8 at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 4376 West Lake Road. The hours are Friday, July 6, 2:30 until 11 pm, Saturday, July 7, 11 am until 11 pm, and Sunday, July 8, from 12 noon until 9 pm. Admission is FREE and there is plenty of FREE PARKING next to the Church.
Scott and Kim McClelland take the stage together this summer for the first time since 1996. The McClelland’s met 20 years ago in the summer of 1987 at the Erie Playhouse. As a way of celebrating their life in the theatre, they have created “Lovers Haters and Others.” The Roadhouse Theatre show is homage to the great love affairs written for the stage. Classic and poetic love stories will be paired with epic vicious battles between famous characters from theatrical history. “Lovers Haters and Others” runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm July 6 - August 4. Family First Sports Park is having a girls basketball camp July 9-10 for varsity and junior varsity players. Boys camp will be held July 14-15 for both teams. Cost for the camps is $90 per player residential and $50 per player for commuters. All residential players receive meals and a free Fun Center pass. Coaches stay for free. The summer Smith Carillon Concert Series at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, begins Thursday, July 12, with a performance by Japanese carillonneur Toru Takao. The following Thursday, July 19, the featured musicians will be the duo Ana and Sara Elias, Portugese sisters who perform under the name Lvsitanvs. Tin-Shi Tam, university carillonneur at Iowa State, will close the series on Thursday, July 26. All three performances will begin at 7 pm, and are free and open to the public. Seating is on the lawn of the John M Lilley Library, so concert goers are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket. Refreshments will be served.
The Wattsburg Erie County Battle of the Bands and Music Festival will be held Friday evening July 27 and Saturday July 28 at the Erie County Fairgrounds.
The Counting Crows, Live and Collective Soul will play a concert at Jerry Uht Park in Erie, PA on July 31 as part of “The Rock ‘n’ Roll Triple Play Ballpark Tour.” Tickets go on sale June 2 at 10 am. Tickets can be purchased at the SeaWolves box office at Jerry Uht Park and on SeaWolves.com. Children under 12 get in FREE with each paid adult ticket holder.
The Motorcycle, Car, Boat and Truck show called the Lake Erie Classic will be held August 3-5 at Erie International Airport, Tom Ridge Field.
