They dropped the Erie to Cincinnati route in November and only had the Erie to Atlanta route left. Around 15 employees will be transferred or laid-off. Erie International Airport will lose about $60,000 in annual revenue. (What’s Delta stand for? Don’t Ever Leave The Airport.)

His father, Frank, who passed away many years ago was responsible for the financial affairs of the local publishing empire. The reason for the release was not disclosed. Erie to Atlanta does very well with over a 80% load factor on every flight. Delta is dropping the 4X daily service because most people are connecting to cheap flights to Florida, instead of high yield international/long haul flights like Delta wants everyone to.

The mayor named a new assistant... is it a conflict of interest to hire a relative?

The previous commenter was right; Delta does very well out of Erie with the highest load factors of any carrier servicing Erie International. However, many Delta travelers are leisure travelers and not the high-paying business travelers whom the airlines love. Also, one other note: Delta began service here in January 2003, not one year ago as this blog states. The Atlanta service began in June 2006 (with Cincinnati service being dropped shortly thereafter). I am an employee that has been affected by this station closure, and I just want to say that Erie has lost a good thing with the departure of Delta Airlines. No other airline serving Erie cares about its passengers more than we do and I would like to think that it shows in our smiles, our dedication, and the love we have for our airline and the gratitude we have for those who choose to fly Delta.
