Erie PA News and Events Wednesday August 15, 2007

Teri Rhodes gave birth in her Mercyhurst College apartment on Sunday. The baby was born alive. Rhodes murdered her baby minutes later by suffocating the unfortunate child. Police found the baby in a plastic bag. Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook declared the death a homicide. Erie County District Attorney Brad Foulk has not yet filed charges. First degree murder seems appropriate. This should be a death penalty case. Lethal injection is the method of execution in Pennsylvania. Teri Rhodes might have an appointment with the needle in her future.

Karleigh Santry is no ordinary teenager. At just 14 years of age, she has parlayed a simple fan club site for the popular Disney super group the Jonas Brothers (JonasBrothersFan.com) into what she hopes will become the next MySpace or Facebook, an online destination where millions of eager young fans come to discuss and trade information about their favorite teen heartthrobs.
While many teenagers would be happy just to have the number one online destination for fans of a popular Disney group with over 10,000 registered visitors in five months and 12,000 unique visitors per day, Karleigh envisioned something more; an umbrella site where fans could create their own websites for their favorite music artists and television actors. Thus was born FanGap.com, a website where users can create and host their own fan websites for free. In less than a week Karleigh has already fielded hundreds of requests for custom fan sites from teens clamoring to pay homage to their idols.
An honor student who plays basketball and soccer, Karleigh will enter the 9th Grade this year. In her spare time, she listens to the Jonas Brothers, and hangs out with her friends, parents, Karyn and Patrick, sister Katie, and two brothers, PJ and Danny.

The Manufacturers’ Association of Northwest Pennsylvania and Erie-Western Pennsylvania Port Authority wrapped up the first Roar on the Shore motorcycle rally that took place August 10 and 11 at Liberty Park-Pepsi Amphitheater along Presque Isle Bay. All proceeds for the event support the John Kanzius Cancer Research Fund. A press conference to announce the results of fundraising efforts is set for 11:15 am Thursday, August 16, at Liberty Park.
Representatives of the Port Authority, the Manufacturers’ Association, Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott, former Mayor Joyce Savocchio and John Kanzius are expected to attend the press briefing and will be available for comment.
The event kicked off Friday night with a massive motorcycle parade led by “Captain America” Peter Fonda. The parade started at Presque Isle Downs and Casino and wound it’s way through Erie and roared into Liberty Park. Local and regional bands capped the evening’s entertainment, while Mr. Fonda signed autographs and took pictures with hundreds of fans.
Saturday featured more local and regional acts, as well as a drawing for a Harley Davidson Dyna-Street Bob valued at $14,000 and a headline performance by the Edgar Winter Group. The night was capped off by a breathtaking Zambelli Fireworks spectacular off Dobbins Landing. The weekend’s festivities drew a crowd of motorcycle enthusiasts, music fans and fun-seekers estimated in the thousands.
“This was an event that truly exceeded our expectations,” said Ray Schreckengost, executive director of the Erie-Western Pennsylvania Port Authority. “And to have the proceeds go to such a worthwhile cause makes it all the better.”
“Quite simply, it was a remarkable weekend,” added Ralph Pontillo, president of the Manufacturers’ Association. “From Peter Fonda leading the bike parade to Edgar Winter bringing down the house, it was an event the likes of which Erie has never seen before. We look forward to Roar on the Shore being a signature annual event for the Erie community.”

Now THAT'S Christianity.

This is an easy win for the District Attorney if he ever actually decides to prosecute. Premeditation should be no problem since she thought about it for nine months. An American citizen was bloody and naked spending it's only ten minutes alive between a dormroom bathoroom floor and a trash bag disposed of by the one who should have loved her forever but instead decided it was an inconvienient to be a mother right now so she just threw the baby away. Any man would have been in jail for a week already awaiting his fair day in court. Any woman from low income areas would already be in jail, but why is this private school girl out still? Does the District Attorney need investigated? If this girl does not recieve life without parole or the death sentence, it is a bigger srew up then what happened to those boys from Duke. What are the charges being filled against the doctors who cannot tell someone is pregnant at a physical? I certainly do not feel safe knowing those doctors are out there and still able to prescribe narcotics. These doctors obviously have no care about human life, being a doctor is just something to do.
