What is the vertical Y-axis scale on the "goerie.com" graph ? Is it hundreds of hits, thousands of hits, millions of hits, per day, per hour, etc. ? I know you were mainly highlighting the trend but I am curious as to the numerical values represented there.
Also can you draw a similar graph showing erieblogs.com activity vs. goerie.com activity for the same time period as 2 different lines overlaid on the same grid ? That would be interesting, too.
Posted by: Erie BlogWatch at October 11, 2007 9:16 AM
The vertical axis is reach.
Here's a graph showing ErieBlogs.com and GoErie.com over the last couple of months from Alexa (http://traffic.alexa.com/graph?c=1&f=555555&u=erieblogs.com&u=goerie.com&r=3m&y=r&z=1&h=300&w=610)
Alexa isn't the most scientific method b/c it relies on traffic from their toolbar software. So, you could install the Toolbar and hit a site over and over and you'll see its traffic, reach and ranking go up.

Mike, thanks for reply to my last comment re: Alexa graph, etc. Very interesting and appreciated.
Also, has anyone else noticed that ETN now includes a comment area at the bottom of each article on goerie.com ? I just saw it a few minutes ago, and there were already a couple of comments on several of the articles. I know they dropped registration, allow search engines to crawl the site, etc. as mentioned here previously by Dennis but this seemed like an additional very recent enhancement.
