Erie PA News and Events for Sunday October 14, 2007

Posted by Dennis on October 14, 2007

The Erie Times-News published their endorsements for Erie County Council and Erie City Council. I know we don’t have much of a choice in whom we elect given the people running. (It’s like having to choose how to die. Would you rather be shot or poisoned?) I loved the ringing endorsement they gave to Pat Cappabianca - “…he too often seems unclear on details and is perhaps stuck in the past. ” And also to Carol Loll - “…she does exhibit narrow views on a number of issues. Her outlook on distributing gaming revenues is a major concern.”
Erie is a great place. It’s how it’s run (county, city, school board) that’s the problem.

From the Saturday, Oct 13, New York Times crossword puzzle:
48 across: Home of Gannon University - answer: Erie.

Pelletier Library at Allegheny College is being renovated. They are going to call the food area “The Wrecking Ball Cafe.” Ha! When the construction company working on the project at Allegheny was doing demolition work, a 3/4 ton wrecking ball broke off it’s cable from a crane and bounced nearly half a mile down the road. It ended up in the trunk of a Ford Taurus. (Pic from YourErie.com.)
