Posted by Dennis on November 14, 2007
According to The Tax Foundation in their 2006 report on Property Taxes on Owner Occupied Housing by County, Erie County Pennsylvania has the 55th highest property taxes in the nation out of 783 counties (or parishes). That will change next year as the following four member of Erie County Council voted to raise your taxes: Charles Augustine, 1126 St. Mary Drive, Erie PA 16509; Ronald Cleaver, 3919 Dexter Ave, Erie PA 16504; Joseph Giles, 257 East 7th St, Erie PA 16503; and David Mitchell, 124 Chestnut Street, Corry, PA 16407. Mark DiVecchio, agreed with the majority and will sign it. Erie County property taxes will go up 1/4 mill and they will take $1.3 million from the $10 million they are receiving from in gaming taxes from Presque Isle Downs and Casino to balance the ever increasing Erie County budget. The population of Erie County is falling, yet the county increases the budget and number of employees every year. The home and email addresses of your elected officials were taken from the county web site.
