The committee of the state Supreme Court Disciplinary Board recommended two years of probation for Erie attorney John Mizner. Mizner stole nearly $70,000 from his former law firm by jacking up his travel expenses. When he was questioned about it, he repaid the money and left the firm. His excuse was that he suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder and needs things neat and orderly. Last year Mizner spent over $100,000 in landscaping at his home. The committee sent its findings to the full Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. No criminal charges were ever filed in the case.

William R Vitanyi, Jr, of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania is the author of three books and a screenplay. His latest book is the office satire The Official Guide to Office Wellness. It’s hilarious. You can see the first chapter through the link at Amazon.com. Vitanyi, Jr, also known simply as “Bayla” call himself an cubicle exercise guru. Several of his models will be on hand to demonstrate animal-inspired techniques designed to alleviate office maladies during a book signing at Borders bookstore in Erie, PA on December 15th, 1-3pm. The live demonstrations will show office workers how to deal with a wide variety of office ailments, such as Cooler Phobia, Office Decoration Anxiety, and Menu Dyslexia. “We consider it a public service,” says Bayla. “Just because workers are enclosed in cubicles for most of the day doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to be treated as humans. What better way to accomplish this than through the wisdom of the animals.” All of the techniques presented in his book are inspired by animals, because animals have wisdom.

A narrow band of heavy lake-effect snow pounded the shore of Lake Erie from Girard, through Erie, Pa to extreme western New York. The official snow total was 12 inches. I had closer to 14 inches at my house. Although the large amount of snow sucks, how and why it happened was interesting. Winds were coming over Lake Erie from the north while at the same time winds were coming from the south. It was nearly a dead calm in Erie with the winds converging and the snow just dumped.
