NBA Developmental League To Have Team in Erie for 2008-09 Season
A private meeting is planned for members of Erie’s business community with a press conference to follow on Tuesday March 18 announcing that Erie will have a team in the NBA Developmental League for the 2008-09 season. Danny Ferry and other executives from the Cleveland Cavaliers will be on hand.
Mike pointed out that nbaerie.com was registered on Feb 18 of this year so they’ve done a good job keeping it quiet from the general public until now. It could not be just a coincidence that Ron Sertz stepped down as Director of Operations of the Erie Otters on February 18. The D League season has typically run mid-November through mid-April. Scheduling of the two teams at the Tullio Arena, with their seasons running at the same time, will be a headache for Casey Wells and both teams.
Late add - still trying to find out if the team has a nickname. Mike searched the US Trademark database and didn’t find the name.

"A private meeting is planned for members of Erie's business community" Hmmmm, one would think the business community should have a meeting with John K about his cancer killing machine and Erie. Maybe it's me but I think it would have a bigger impact than a minor league BB team.
