June brings several conventions to Erie
This June, Erie will host three good sized conferences. That means lots of visitors to Erie who will stay in local hotels, eat at local restaurants, shop and spend money. That’s great for Erie.
Chris Pennsy at VisitErie sent out some information about upcoming events. Last year, Chris wrote a blog post for us talking about the work that VisitErie does in recruiting organizations to bring their conventions to our city.
From June 12 through June 14, The Midwest Tool Collectors Association will be at the Bayfront Convention Center. 1,000 people will come and VisitErie estimates they’ll have a $600,000 economic impact on the area.
The Pennsylvania Children and Youth Administrators will be at the Avalon. Their 120 visitors will make a $48,000 impact on our local economy.
Finally, the PA Rural Letter Carriers Association will be the Ambassdor Conference Center. Their 300 visitors will make a $270,000 economic impact to our area.
It’s good to see our conference facilities booked, our tourism and convention groups working hard to bring in business and perhaps most importantly, Erie is being learned about and explored by thousands of new visitors.
There was fear that the Bayfront Convention Center would take business away from other local places. It’s to Erie’s benefit that we’re able to offer venues of varying size, resources and cost to companies and associations looking at bringing their conferences here. This will only help us in the long run.
