8 Great Tuesdays

Posted by Rich on July 7, 2008

Tomorrow, the 8 Great Tuesdays concert series kicks off with two months of Tuesday entertainment giving Erieites a much needed mid-week break. Every Tuesday from 6:30 - 9:30, there will be a free concert at the Liberty Park, Pepsi Amphitheater. Here is this summer’s schedule for 8 Great Tuesdays:

July 8 - Little Brian and the Zydeco Travelers
July 15 - Donna the Buffalo
July 22 - Bernard Allison
July 29 - Jakes Blues
August 5 - Leon Russell
August 12 - Joe Grushecky and the House Rockers
August 19 - Dave Stevens Big Band
August 26 - Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Air Men

Shuttles will be available starting at 5 p.m. since parking is limited at Liberty Park. Here is a detailed map with shuttle pick-up locations:

A new policy was put in place on July 25, 2008, regarding minors. If you’re under age 16 you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who also has to stay at the event. If you’re 16 or older, you must have a picture ID. The policy was instituted because kids were being dropped off unattended at the event, and a number of fights broke out as a result of rogue teenagers. Also, no pets, bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, or alcohol are allowed in Liberty Park.

it would be nice if you would describe what type of music each band plays that are schedueled to perform......it's a long ride to pick up my dad and come to the bayfront to be disapointed in the acts......then have to leave early.
we are familiar with only two of the acts this year and will probably not come. jakes blues and dave stevens.
sincerely,

Mike, instead of describe each band's music style, we've linked to their official websites where you can listen to music samples (most of the bands that is). Thanks for the comment.

I would just like to let everyone know how frustrating it is to be a 21. I went down with a couple of friends and we all bought a beer. We're sitting there talking and whoever they are (fake police?) come up to us and asked to see our IDs. After showing them, they still didnt beleive me. A half hour later, after they walked me to their unmarked car (seems pretty unsafe), I gave them my social security number and everything, my license ran through, and they still took my wrist band and dumped my beer!! So frustrating! That was my first and only beer of the night, it wasnt like I was acting crazy. Can we do something about this? I just want to have a good time!

You should never have to give your ss number to anyone as identification. Your driver's license should have been enough. If it is good enough for a bar, it should be good enough for a rent a cop - I would file a legitimate complaint with the port authority and the organizers of the event if in fact it went as you stated.
