We’ve all seen the annual voting for all sorts of “bests in Erie” over at the big newspaper in town. Every year, places are voted for in all sorts of categories, and the winners are given a nice certificate to hang in their storefront and some bragging rights.

But…and there’s always a but. Those types of things are just big advertising pushes. Want an ad in the newspaper section saying you were voted “Best Something” in Erie? You’ve got to pay for that. We’re not sure if companies that don’t pay get to keep their award, but its just fishy all the way around.

Time to stop that. It’s time to put the voting back in the hands of the people! So we started the ErieBlogs.com Best in Erie awards!
