We love that people are fishing on January 2nd. These guys set up in Elk Creek and they manage to reel in some pretty nice steelhead.
Before you know it, lots of people will be ice fishing.

Trout fishing season opens in Pennsylvania today at 8 am.
The US Brig Niagara will be prepared for the Summer sailing season today. The tarp will be removed and the masts (118 feet and 113 feet) and rigging will be installed.

It’s official. VanEnkevort Tug and Barge was awarded the Erie PA shipyard. VanEnkevort will be leasing the 240,000 square foot dry dock and manufacturing facility at an annual cost of around $500,000. They were awarded the shipyard Friday. Their lease will begin October 1 and they’ve promised 200 jobs within 12 months.

Fascinating read today in this story (registration required) by the Erie newspaper about Greg Rubino. Rubino is the star FBI witness against Mayor Rick Filippi in the land deal mess near the former Hammermill plant. Attorneys for Filippi have found court records that mention Rubino in a cocaine case.
