Sunday morning, several men were fishing in a local creek when one of the fisherman cast out and snagged his hook on the body of Dennis Merritt, who lived nearby the creek. Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong has been found competent to stand trial. Officials in Texas where Diehl is being held in prison have cleared Diehl as competent and will return her to Pennsylvania where Judge Sean McLaughlin will hold a hearing to make a final decision as to her competency to stand trial. US Airways is dropping the Erie to Pittsburgh route on January 6 but service to Philadelphia will continue. With decisions like this it’s no wonder US Despair is losing money. Robert Spaulding has been named as Director of Economic Development for Erie County. He retired after 30 years from Penelec. Spaulding has no background in economic development nor a college degree.
