Lisa Maas was murdered in her Pittsburgh apartment. Maas was a 2006 graduate of Harbor Creek High School near Erie. She was attending school at the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute. Mike Crotty was killed in the line of duty while fighting a fire at Port Erie Plastics. Crotty was serving with the Lawrence Park Township Volunteer Fire Department where he was Deputy Chief. There are reports of an explosion at the United Refining Company in Warren, PA. The company operates an oil refinery in Warren that can process 70,000 barrels of oil into gasoline, diesel fuel and other petroleum distillates per day. Starting today Single Stream Recycling begins in the City of Erie. Everything can be places together in blue or clear plastic bags every week. Aerosol cans, styrofoam, pizza boxes and waxed cardboard such as milk cartons and laundry detergent boxes aren’t accepted but all other glass, plastic, paper and cardboard items can be included.
