A reminder from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission: The Walnut Creek Access office will be open Dec. 23 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will be closed for the winter season as of Dec. 24. Portable restrooms and Dumpsters will remain in the area.

2012 licenses are available from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and its issuing agents starting today.Those who don’t have a 2011 license get a free month of fishing in December by buying now. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is drawing down Crawford County’s Tamarack Lake by approximately four feet in order to perform engineering investigations on recently discovered dam seepage. In an extremely unfortunate accident, 88-year-old thoroughbred trainer John Wilson was killed at Presque Isle Downs and Casino when a horse he was tending to reared up and kicked him in the head.
