The weather today should be just about perfect–head out to Waldameer one last time to ride the Ravine Flyer II. They close tomorrow for the season. It will also be a great day to hit Presque Isle, or the German Festival.

The Ravine Flyer II at Waldameer Amusement Park and Water World opened yesterday to a large crowd. Seats on the very first ride were auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting the Northwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. About $7,500 was raised. Lieutenant Colonel Richard J Berrettini died due to injuries received from an improvised explosive device attack in Khowst Province, Afghanistan. LTC Berrettini died Jan 11, nine days after the HMMWV he was a passenger in was attacked. The remains of Technical Sergeant Richard R Sargent of North Girard PA (present day Lake City, PA) were returned home after 63 years. The Greater Erie Board of REALTORS released the Erie County property transfer report for October. For Oct 2006, 432 properties were exchanged for $47,279, 377. The Oct 2005 figures were 512 transactions for $61,760,628. This marks the fifth straight decline year-over-year. Congrats to Margo Carlson whom won the “Name the Tower Ride” contest at Waldameer Amusement Park and Water World. The new 140 foot Tower Drop ride will be called the X Scream. There will be a 2 day preview, Sat Nov 4 and Sun Nov 5, before the ride opens for the season next Spring.
