Scott Bremner at WSEE TV broke the news this morning that GE will permanently lay off over 1480 hourly workers. Most affected are those who are already on temporary lay off, about 1200 employees, and 230 who are still working. Also eliminated are 50 salaried positions. A quick heads-up if you have not yet picked up an digital TV receiver – WSEE will turn off its analog signal tomorrow. This will only affect you if you get TV signals with an antenna, either rabbit-ears style or an external antenna. Satellite and cable customers will not see any change. Two people have been arrested in Arizona for correcting typos and bad grammar on signs in Grand Canyon national park.
